Bird Key - The Boaters Paradise"

bird-key waterfront homes   Completely surrounded by the waters of Sarasota Bay, Bird Key is a barrier island off the south side of the John Ringling Causeway which connects the Sarasota mainland to St Armands Key and Bird Key. It is secluded enough for a luxurious lifestyle with a great deal of privacy, yet easy access that all the Sarasota area has to offer.

A "BoaterÂ’s Paradise" is how many describe this barrier island. "Many of Bird Key's homes are directly on the bay or on deep-water canals," she adds. The Bird Key Yacht Club is considered one of the outstanding yacht clubs on Florida's West Coast. For beach lovers, the beaches of Bird Key are just a short drive away.

There are 460 private single-family homes on Bird Key, mostly built during the 1960's. Many of the older homes have by now either been completely redone or torn down to make room for larger, more opulent homes. There are no condominiums and no commercial properties of any kind. Many of the homes are right on Sarasota Bay or deep-water canals, both important for owners of larger yachts or deep-draft sailboats.

Its quiet streets and striking vistas of the Sarasota skyline and Sarasota Bay have drawn some younger residents in recent years, including many celebrities to Bird Key. The price of homes on Bird Key range from about $500,000 up to about $6.0 million for the most luxury waterfront homes.

"If you are a boater, especially a sailboat captain, and you want an elegant waterfront home in a secluded setting, and if you'd enjoy a casual dinner at an exclusive yacht club, Bird Key could be the perfect place for you to call home on a full-time or seasonal basis. It simple can't be beat."
