Naples, Florida and Marco Island
Naples is the crown jewel of Southwest Florida. Nestled on the sun-drenched beaches of the Gulf of Mexico,
Naples is also known for world class shopping, dining and abundant, challenging golf courses. It is also only steps away from
the untamed tropical wilderness of The Everglades. Naples is particularly attractive to upscale boating and sailing enthusiasts.
Collier County remained uninhabited for thousands of years. The Calusa Indian civilization occupied the area
until just before the turn of the century when pioneer settlers began building cattle ranches. They fished, farmed and hunted
the area as a largely rural area.
Beginning in the 1920s, wealthy Northeast and Midwestern families began to visit the region during the colder months to relax on white
sand beaches and fish for tarpon. From that point on, the area has swollen to its current state with people flocking to the beaches of Naples and neighboring Marco Island.
The Naples Municipal Airport provides onvenient access to tthe area for thousands of passengers each year. At this airport, you will generally see
a huge number of private jets, a reflection of the average wealth of many residents of the area.
